In the salon, stylists strive to be a step ahead so they can create the most up-to-date looks for their clients. However, hair trends come and go so quickly it can be challenging to stay up to date with the top styles. When it comes to haircuts, 2022 has seen an influx in highly stylized and precision cuts as well as more texturized techniques. Weve rounded up the most popular haircuts of 2022 below.

The Haircut Trends:

Curtain Bangs

They have been called many names - from see-through bangs to invisible fringe, but curtain bangs are a specific style all their own. Shorter in the middle and growing longer as they part towards the temples, curtain bangs work well for the client who isnt sure they want to commit to a full fringe.

Wolf Cut

First came the wolf cut, then came the octopus cut, but were still fans of the original iteration. The wolf cut combines layers with length to create an understated shag. It still has all the fun texture of a traditional shag but doesnt require such severe layers — which makes it easier to style and grow out.

 The Bixie Cut

The blend of a bob and a pixie, the bixie haircut was one of the most searched for cuts of the season. It definitely gives off Lady Di vibes but with a modern finish for todays client. The length should be tailored to your client's texture and generally works better on straighter hair types — although if youre ok with a high-maintenance style any texture can rock this cut.

Mullet Hair

This business in the front, party in the back cut has been modernized and might even be more popular than when it originally debuted. With softer transitions and more attention paid to wearing hair natural, this look has the ability to translate to various hair types — which is why clients looking to wash and wear hair have been so drawn to it.

Shag Haircut

The shag has continued its reign throughout the last few years. Its most recent modernization — the faux shag — is what boosted it to stardom this year. By retaining moderately long layers and combining it with shaggy texture, clients are able to wear hair up or down and pull out face-framing tendrils when they want. The upgrade also allows wearers to don their natural texture without a great deal of extra effort.
