Reminder! It's a Renewal Year, Check Out Important Details from IDFPR about License Renewal in Illinois – America's Beauty Show®

It's a renewal year, which mean's now is the time look up your license – whether it is for a Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetician, Nail Technician, Hair Braiding, or Salon Shop. Be prepared and sign in early to see your options to make sure you don't miss your license renewal. 

To help you with this, the IDFPR has plenty of online options to easily renew online. 

Renewing Your Illinois Beauty License Online with IDFPR 

The IDFPR or the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is the licensing body of the state of Illinois. As beauty professionals, all individuals are strongly encouraged to create an online account with IDFPR to apply for – and renew – their licenses. 

This makes it easier when it comes time to renew! The portal may be accessed here: https://online-dfpr.micropact.com/. In addition, licensees should use this portal to keep their contact information up to date with IDFPR.

Shortcuts:

• A couple of tools are available on IDFPR’s website to check and print licenses. The Print my License page is a tool to print a license, while the License Lookup tool provides an opportunity to check if an individual is licensed (and when a license expires).
• IDFPR maintains a list of professions whose licenses are currently in renewal at a given time. That list may be found here: https://idfpr.illinois.gov/renewals/defaultssl.html.

Links to these tools can also be found on the home page of IDFPR’s website, idfpr.illinois.gov. In addition, there are links to each of IDFPR’s social media pages at the bottom of the home page. Licensees and professionals should also follow IDFPR on social media, as updates will also be communicated there.

 Renewal Schedule:

• Barbers: Barber, barber teacher and barber school licenses shall expire on July 31 of each odd numbered year.  The holder of a license may renew that license during the month preceding its expiration date.
• Cosmetology: Cosmetology teacher, cosmetology clinic teacher and cosmetology school licenses shall expire on September 30 of each even-numbered year. Cosmetologist licenses shall expire on September 30 of each odd-numbered year. A prerenewal period is the 24-month period preceding September 30 in the year of renewal. The holder of a license may renew the license during the month preceding its expiration date.
• Estheticians: Esthetics teacher and esthetics school licenses shall expire on September 30 of each even-numbered year. Esthetician licenses shall expire on September 30 of each odd-numbered year. The holder of a license may renew the license during the month preceding its expiration date.
• Nail Technicians: Every nail technician, nail technology teacher and nail technology school license shall expire on October 31 of each even-numbered year.  The holder of a license may renew the license during the month preceding its expiration date.
• Hair Braiding: Every license issued under the Act shall expire on October 31 of each even-numbered year.  The holder of a license may renew the license during the month preceding its expiration date.
• Salon Shop: All certificates of registration shall expire on November 30 of even-numbered years.  A salon or shop may renew the certificate of registration during the 2 months preceding the expiration date by paying the required fee.
