Self-Care Tips To Add To Your Routine in 2022! – America's Beauty Show®

There is a giddy excitement at the start of a new season and around this time of year setting intentions to incorporate self-care rituals into your everyday routine is the perfect way to regain a little “me time.” Whether you want to combat winter hair dryness, test drive a buzzy beauty trend or try out a new look, we’ve got a range of beauty resolutions to last you and your clients all year long.

January: Rehydrate

Winter air can be especially harsh, drying out both your hair and your skin. Around this time of year it is essential to quench thirsty strands with a hydrating shampoo and conditioner duo. Suggest clients add a weekly or bi-weekly hair mask for extra hydration and nourishment or book a monthly gloss or professional treatment in the salon.

February: Practice Protective Styling

After a long winter of heat styling, split ends are a common hair problem. This February, challenge clients to swap out hot tools in favor of protective styles. From soft braids to the low nape knot, as we prepare for spring now is the perfect time to try out unique styles!

March: Lighten Up

March marks the official beginning of spring - making it the perfect month for clients to opt for a lighter look. From lived-in looks to face-framing highlights, subtly add color at each appointment to gradually lighten your client’s color.

April: Accessorize!

Anyone who has begun spring cleaning probably found a few hair accessories in their beauty cabinet, making it the perfect time to add them to any look. Accessories are the fastest way to spice any style and a great add-on to keep in stock at the salon for a quick up-sell as clients walk out the door!

May: Prep & Protect

As days become warmer and clients are spending more time in the sun, start suggesting add on services and home care tips to protect hair color. From in-salon gloss and go appointments to at-home color-enhancing shampoos and conditioners — these will help overhaul unwanted tones this season.

June: Extend Your Wash

When the summer season begins to bloom, clients everywhere are looking for quick and easy ways to extent their blowout. Be sure to stock and display options for dry shampoo and dry conditioner as they’ll be looking for both this season.

July: Handle the Humidity

Summer can be prime time for humidity to strike. When it does clients will be dreading the return of frizz. Help clients nix frizz at home by practicing a little hair self-care. Adding hydrating shampoos free of sulfates and parabens, indulging in a weekly hair mask or professional in-salon treatments can help add smoothness and heat protection, which helps cut down on the frizz factor.

August: Time for Damage Control

Exposure to UV rays can be harsh on hair, this coupled with warm temperatures, high humidity, and chlorine-filled pools can all leave your client’s strands feeling less than stellar. This month, it’s all about damage control. Add a gloss to your client’s next appointment or a strengthening professional treatment to set their hair up for success.

September: Simplify

The “back-to-school” season puts a time crunch on everyone’s beauty routine. To save time, teach clients how to optimize with multi-tasking products that handle all their needs in a flash. From leave-in treatments that double as heat protection or air-dry stylers, take a peek at your shelves and strategize the best products to put forward this season.

October: Focus on Healthy Hair

If clients are looking for an “I woke up like this” look, advise them that it is easier to achieve on hair that is healthy. Similar to upgrading a skin care routine instead of piling on the makeup, clients should look for nourishing products, reduce washes, and keep up with salon visits for regular trims and glosses to achieve a low-maintenance look.

November: Scalp Care is the New Self-Care

Who says self-care has to be a major time investment? With scalp scrubs and specialized shampoos everywhere, send clients home with a treatment they can practice daily. To get them jumpstarted offer a promotion in the salon for a scalp treatment + blowout — an express service that can help promote scalp health and product awareness.

December: Try Something New

Want a total refresh before the year is out? Switch up your look with something completely new! Whether you opt for a subtle change, like trendy face-frame highlights, or go for something major, like a blunt bob, a new look is a perfect way to welcome another new year.
