About Cosmetologists Chicago®

Cosmetologists Chicago® (CC) is a non-profit organization created by and for licensed beauty professionals. We support everyone in the salon industry, including cosmetologists, estheticians, nail technicians, barbers, salon owners, cosmetology students, and their instructors.

Since 1912, CC has been serving beauty professionals with a commitment to excellence. Our Board of Directors, made up of industry leaders and professionals, provides yearly planning and guidance to keep us at the forefront.

Our network includes Cosmetologists Chicago (CC), the International Nail Technicians Association (INTA), the American Association for Esthetics (AAE), and CIDESCO Section USA.

We offer scholarships for advanced study, education grants, and lobby to protect the interests of beauty industry professionals at the government level. Join us and be part of a legacy dedicated to the growth and success of beauty professionals everywhere.

The Jerry Gordon Salon Business Leadership Award

Established in early 2015, the Jerry Gordon Salon Business Leadership Award celebrates and honors Jerry Gordon's contributions to our industry by recognizing individuals who embody the highest ideals he championed in his business and styling career. This award pays tribute to colleagues who have led the industry with sound business practices while significantly contributing to the overall success of the hairdressing profession.

Previous recipients include: Frank Gironda, another CC president and past owner of Chicagoland’s Frank Gironda Salon & Day Spas; Candy Shaw of Jamison Shaw Salons, Atlanta, GA; Eric Fisher of Eric Fisher Salons, Wichita, KS; Frank Gambuzza, owner of Salon Visage, Knoxville, TN; and Ginger Boyle, owner of Planet Salon, Los Angeles, CA.

Fred A. Piattoni Award for Industry Service

Established in late 2016, the Fred A. Piattoni Award for Industry Service celebrates and honors Fred's contributions to our industry by recognizing individuals who embody the highest ideals he championed in his career. This award pays tribute to those few industry colleagues who have tirelessly supported practitioners and salon owners, significantly contributed to the success of the American professional beauty business, and wholeheartedly embraced the efforts of Cosmetologists Chicago and its annual America's Beauty Show.

Previous recipients include: Pat Parenty in 2017, the recently retired President and Chairman of the L'Oreal Professional Products Division; Mr. Hidetaka Yoshikawa in 2018, President and CEO of Takara Belmont LTD; Dr. Farouk Shami in 2019, founder and chairman of Farouk Systems, Inc. (CHI, BioSilk, Esquire Grooming); and Robert Reed in 2021, Owner of ERGO Styling Tools.
